What is a personal media profile?
  • A personal media profile is another form of a digital media portfolio, but rather than just showcasing content, it may well contain testimonials, blogs or experiences which are relevant to the sector that the profile is aimed at.
  • A social media profile relates to having a Facebook, Instagram etc. profile, which in this context relates to personal and social content, with no reference to employment purposes. 
  • A digital portfolio is online, or even a portfolio of work on a DVD. It could contain a showreel, or simply pieces of work in an electronic format.
Why do I need a personal media profile for a digital media extended certificate coursework? What are the benefits of having a media profile?

A digital portfolio is a collection of digital evidence and works collected and managed by the person who has created the blog, usually on the internet. This evidence may include text, files, images, multimedia, blog entries and hyperlinks.

Strengths and Weaknesses of digital media portfolios

https://www.studiofeixen.ch/ - This is a good example of an online portfolio as it shows very clearly lots of things they've created in a very easy and efficient manner. It shows all of the imaged and .jpg based work they have created on the home page. It also features animations (on the about page) and then explains who they are and what they're working on. However, there isn't a big variety of types of work (e.g. video-based work as well). It is good as it is very easily accessible as it is online so it can be looked at, analysed in detailed, shared freely and help to inspire. I also like how colourful it is and how vibrant and poppy the colours of the designs are while still being on a plain, white and grey background.

http://robinmastromarino.com/ This is another good example of an online portfolio as it displays all their work on the home page and can slide between them and be clicked on to show more information and more examples of the work they have done under this subheading. However, the website is quite slow and laggy and can be jarring. This digital portfolio is good as because it is online, it is very easily accessible and shared and analysed. I also like how the work on the animated slideshow are colourful and stand out in contrast to the white spell out lettering in the middle of the image to display what the work is.

For my advertisement, I will be advertising clothes that already exist. I will be doing an audio-visual campaign and a print based advertisement. I will look into pre-existing campaigns and see how they advertise the products and to see what i could do to advertise products in a similar or better way.  This is a print-based advertisement series created by a brand called 'BONDS' for underwear and it is in a comedy style (with strap lines such as 'IT'S NO PARTY IN HIS PANTS.' and 'I DON'T KNOW IF THEY'LL LAST ANOTHER CURRY.' in a sans-serif font so it seems more friendly. Masthead FX

I chose to edit the word 'masthead' like this because it stood out to me out of the multiple different ones I did before my final drafts. I personally think the colours used make the words pop and stand out e.g. the 'Pattern Overlay' makes the word stand out and look a lot more interesting. I think the 'gradient overlay' the 'colour overlay' and the 'stroke' ones worked best. I struggled with the 'satin' one as it was hard to make it apparent that it had been edited.
