John Lewis

John Lewis was founded in 1864 in Oxford Street, London by a man called John Lewis. John Lewis started to make Christmas adverts, made in house (by John Lewis & Partner), in 2007 and have done one every year since that point such as:

The adverts always premier on the television and usually include a very famous song sang by a different artist; e.g. ‘The Man on the Moon’ featured ‘Half the World Away’ by Oasis except it was sang by Norwegian singer Aurora. These adverts have been pretty successful as people all around the world know about John Lewis and their Christmas adverts. 
It is unconfirmed how much was spent to create each advert, however, it is speculated that the most recent ad - 'Excitable Edgar' had a £7 million budget.

M&M Advert
M&M were first introduced by a man named Forrest Mars in 1941. Sir Forrest came up with the idea for the chocolates after witnessing a solider eat chocolate pellets with a hard shell during the Spanish Civil War. The chocolates were being made with a hard shell so that the soldiers could carry them round in the war during the warm weather. However, the first advertisement for the chocolates was in 1954 and was black and white. It showed M&M characters, one was plain and the other had a peanut, they were diving into a chocolate pool. Now, M&M's are the flagship product of the Mars Wrigley Confectionery division of Mars, Incorporated.
